Letter from Katherine Cummins

To whom it may concern:

I am pleased to recommend Denis Moreen as a computer database manager and editor.

Denis joined the staff of the San Francisco Symphony in the fall of 2003 as a performance history specialist in the Publications Department. His job, along with three other colleagues, has been to detail the performance history of the organization since its inception in 1911. The project has involved examining the entire repertoire presented over the years by the orchestra and its guest artists in all its performances and venues, transferring information from file cards to computer, and verifying that data is accurate. When completed, the database program will provide instant details about composers, arrangers, works, artists, and venues, representing over 6,000 titles spanning all music genres and performed in over 10,000 programs.

Denis brought impressive qualifications to the job with his background in both music and computers.  He has in-depth knowledge of classical and popular music and is very proficient in using computers.  Denis learned the intricacies of our specialized database software so thoroughly that he now writes and maintains our staff manuals detailing the entire performance history project.

I am particularly impressed with Denis’s ability to handle all levels of our work, from entering and correcting the small details to brainstorming and implementing the large strategies necessary for the project. He is enthusiastic and supportive of his colleagues, has a relaxed sense of humor, and is thoroughly dependable.

I am very appreciative of the dedication and energy Denis Moreen brings to his work and recommend him for any similar opportunities which may arise in the future.
